Well officially there are supposed to be differences in the track
spacing anyway.
There are two different ways to space 4 running tracks:

And

The large gaps need to be 15' 2" (I think) whilst the smaller
onesare
11' 2". In each case these gaps are to be set wider on
curves.The idea
is to permit the PW staff to walk safely between the tracks.
